Festival of India – Thunder Bay was started by Dr. Prashant Jani and Mrs. Sneha Jani in 2006. In 2009 they established a nonprofit organization- Vedic cultural centre in Thunder Bay. Currently the festival is organized by all the volunteers of Vedic cultural centre, Thunder Bay.
Jani family decided to organize the Festival as it is a way to gain an insight into the culture of India. It is a chance to showcase what he calls “The Emerging Thunder Bay” giving our community an opportunity to learn, embrace and grow respect for new people, cultures and ideas.
Admission is free with donations accepted and gives you access to meal tickets for a traditional East Indian vegetarian feast. Food vendors are on site serving serving Samosas (chick-pea stuffed pastry) and Pakoras (deep fried potato mix with gram flour batter).
